The on-site management of our employees, subcontractors and supply chain is ultimately important to achieving our goals, ensuring we adopt a collaborative, supportive approach to make sure that all parties involved in a project have the right information at the right time to ensure it can be carried out safely, cost-effectively and to programme.

Health & Safety principles

"Every year many construction site workers are killed or injured as a result of their work; others suffer ill health, such as musculoskeletal disorders, dermatitis or asbestosis. The hazards are not, however, restricted to those working on sites. Children and other members of the public are also killed or injured because construction activities have not been adequately controlled."

The principles of our commitment to Health & Safety Management are based on the following:

  • Leadership - leading from the top, providing inspirational and excellent demonstration of the business’ commitment to a culture of achieving the best we can

  • Assessment - utilising the General Principles of Prevention throughout the business, identifying hazards associated with our works, removing risks where reasonably practicable and working closely with our stakeholders to control and manage residual risks

  • Consideration - placing health & safety at the top of the agenda to ensure it is incorporated into every single business decision and providing sufficient resources to enable the effective management of health & safety throughout the business

  • Legal - ensuring the business complies with relevant legislation, regulations, standards and establishing a culture of best practice

  • Implementation - establishing robust health & safety requirements to provide our employees, contractors, site visitors and supply chain with a safe and healthy place to work, to ensure they go home safe and well each day

  • Communication & Engagement - to establish a truly collaborative environment, ensuring all of our stakeholders have the right information at the right time to ensure that every single person involved in our process understands how to keep themselves and those affected by our works safe and healthy

  • Transparency & Measurement - implementing management systems which measure health & safety performance against specified targets, reporting performance honestly and implementing a feedback system to encourage input from all stakeholders

  • Training - ensuring our staff and operatives are equipped with the most up to date knowledge so that they can demonstrate suitable skills, knowledge and experience for any project they are working on

We ask each of our employees and contractor employed site operatives to “own” their health & safety responsibilities for the company by personally committing to:

  • Ensuring they understand the company’s health & safety system and goals

  • Asking for help where they are unsure or believe they are creating / working in an unsafe manner

  • Complying with the company’s health & safety policies

  • Work in a safe manner, which keeps themselves safe and healthy, and does not endanger the safety or health of any other workers, suppliers or surrounding site “neighbours”

  • Watch out for other operatives, suppliers and site visitors

  • Reporting anything which they believe to be unsafe, illegal or problematic

  • Speaking up if they feel that systems or processes are not being implemented correctly or honestly

  • Contributing to the company’s systems by pro-actively suggesting improvements or changes which can positively impact safety & health

Empyrean Construction recognises its responsibility to the communities in which it operates and will therefore endeavour to maintain a position as a socially responsible corporate citizen.


As part of its CSR policy, the company is committed to taking a practical and realistic approach to assessing and managing day-to-day business activities in an environmentally responsible manner.


Our commitment to the environment:

  • Promoting a working situation which actively encourages sustainability and the protection of the environment by recycling materials and minimising waste

  • Sourcing responsibly, ensuring that in selecting products and materials, we assess the environmental impact and attempt where possible to use non-hazardous and/or reusable materials.

  • Protecting Biodiversity by ensuring that our projects and works are properly planned to be sympathetic to their surrounding environment and reducing the impact of the works on the surrounding area, minimising pollution or discharges to the environment, and protecting wildlife / flora & fauna and natural habitats

  • Reducing the use of natural resources in the work that we do and ensuring we are pro-actively reducing, recycling and reusing wastage where possible

  • Communicating and discussing environmental policies with all employees

  • Empowering employees to take a pro-active environmentally responsible approach to their working practices
